PhotoHunt: Rock

At the observation area at the other end of the Golden Gate Bridge (Marin County/Sausalito side), a slab of human-made rock is inscribed with the direction in the horizon which leads one's eyes to The Rock- Alcatraz Island- a place of infamy as a federal prison but is likewise a cultural and historical treasure trove, being the site of the US West Coast's first lighthouse and first fort, among others.

at the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, California, December 2006, using my Woca 120G toy camera.

  1. Pretty cool to show the directions it's facing :)

  2. That's a unique way to shoot. I love it Ian!

  3. Isn't it just too cool?!!!

My rocks are now posted. Won't you try to stop by to view my photos today? Have a great weekend.

  4. Great shot that's a cool take on this week's theme!

  5. Good idea for the week's. I do have one of these "Alcatraz swimming team" tees from Sousalito still somewhere...

    Have a great weekend!

  6. Really great photo! I saw a few of those "escape from Alcatraz" movies severeal years ago.

Thanks for visiting my Photo Hunters last week!
