PhotoHunt: POINT

I know to many, if not most, drivers in the United States, these freeway signs make sense. But for a newbie traveler like myself, it is almost always a source of confusion. Good thing these actually very informative signages are placed a good distance where, say, the roads fork or the exits are due to appear; else, they would be rendered useless as I would have already missed these supposed turns and ramps.

But then, there's always the GPS...

PhotoHunt: MEMORIAL

James K. Polk, 11th President of the United States of America, is honored here at the Genevieve Morehead Memorial Art Rotunda at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. President Polk is "the youngest up to the time, who managed to expand the borders of the United States to the Pacific Ocean, added three states to the Union, started the Naval Academy, the Washington Monument, issued the first postage stamp, and remains the youngest President to die outside those who have been assassinated" (from JamesKPolk.com).

The monicker of America's Largest Home is indeed well-deserved by the Biltmore Castle, a 250-room home for the Vanderbilt family nestled in an 8,000-acre (32,000 sq km) property in continuous operation since 1895.

A warm welcome by way of a huge snow storm greeted us on our first full day on holiday in the U.S. While we didn't get to our destination in Tennessee because of the worsening driving conditions, being trapped in a Holiday Inn wasn't bad, not bad at all. At least the drivers of these vehicles, fellow snow refugees, were warm and comfy.
