The Merchant offers passersby his ware as he stands guard on the Hameensilta Bridge, accompanied by the latter's three other sentinels- the Maiden Finland, the Tax Collector, and the Hunter. All four are creations of pre-eminent Finnish artist Waino Aaltonen.
