PhotoHunt: COVERED

The layer of water sustaining the rice seedlings in this paddy reflects the mountains that surround it as well as the industry and iron will of the farmers engaged in this vocation to feed the nation.

Monochrome Monday: WINDOW

This is one of the capiz or mother of pearl windows in a church in the northern Philippine province of Nueva Vizcaya. It's a typical material for many windows here in the country: it blocks most the glare while at the same time letting some light through. The tandem for capiz windows usually would be a ventanilla or a small grilled window just below it- to allow the breeze to enter the home.

It's my first time to join the Monochrome Monday bloggers. I am excited and hopeful that this blogging prompt will be a window through which I can see the beauty of the world in sepia tone or black white.

(Interesting that photos I took of another part of this same church was the one I used when I first joined the photoblogging prompt Litratong Pinoy or Filipino Photos.)

Litratong Pinoy (LP): LUMA NA (Old)

Ito ang aking unang pagsabak sa lingguhang palaro na Litratong Pinoy (LP). Manaka-naka na rin akong sumasali sa PhotoHunt ni tnchick; nakakatuwa ang pagkakataong maglibot sa maraming bahagi ng mundo at makita ito sa lente ng ibang potograpo at blogger. Nawa'y palarin akong mapabilang sa hanay ng mga kasapi sa manlalaro ng Litratong Pinoy =]



LUMA NA kung maituturing ang kampanang ito na natagpuan ko sa isang simbahan sa Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya. Kung ibabatay sa taong nakaukit sa katawan ng kampana, may higit 171 taon na ito! Sa kasalukuyan, retirado na ang kampanang ito, nagpapahinga na lamang sa isang gilid ng simbahan. Ilang misa o orasyon o babala sa bagyo o paglusob ng kaaway o paghatid sa huling hantungan na kaya ang siyang sinaliwan ng kampanang ito...



(This is my first foray into the weekly game of Litratong Pinoy (LP) or Filipino Photo. I have intermittently joined PhotoHunt of the tnchick; it is a joy to travel the world through the lens of photographers and bloggers. I sincerely hope that the team behind LP will consider me to be part of the roster of their weekly players.

LUMA NA = OLD is an appropriate description for this bell I found on the grounds of a church in Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya. If the date embossed on the bell is to be believed, it would be at least 171 years old! Currently, the bell is retired already, resting near a kiosk beside the church. I wonder how many masses, how many Angelus, how many warnings of typhoons or incoming enemy, how many funeral marches have this bell tolled for...)
